CHIVU IN TALKS

The Romanian national team manager Victor Piturca has revealed that his hoping to persuade the Inter Milan defender Cristian Chivu to come out of retirement. The 32-year-old defender is regarded as one of the best players for Romania in recent times, but he recently took the opportunity to quit the national team after having made 75 appearances. He said that injuries and age have made him take this difficult decision. He announced his retirement only me, but the manager Victor Piturca has revealed that he has not given up hope of seeing the 32-year-old play for the national team once again.

Victor Piturca has revealed that he will be making the trip to Milan in order to have a personal chat with him in the hope of persuading him to return to international football. It remains to be seen if Chivu will be able to return to club football, as he is currently struggling with a foot injury that has kept him out of action since August. He has not been part of the first team since playing in the 3-0 win over Hajduk Split. Romania are currently struggling in the World Cup qualifying group and are currently in the third position with just nine points from four matches played.

“I have spoken to him on the phone recently and I will go to Milan to meet him before Christmas or at the beginning of 2013. The most important thing for him is to start playing again,” said Piturca in a recent press conference. Romania recently has success in the friendly match against Belgium after they managed to win the match 2-1. From here on, Romania will be playing in World Cup qualifying matches against Hungary and Netherlands in the month of March. This will go a long way into determining the success of qualification.
