Betting tips on Chelsea

Backing Chelsea to win the Premier League may be one of the safest bets you make next season. This is mainly because the Blues have very little in their way to a fourth Premier League title and with Jose Mourinho back in charge they have a proven formula in the English top flight.

Mourinho still has a core of players he used to win the title in 2005 and 2006, with John Terry, Ashley Cole, Frank Lampard and Petr Cech present. Additions such as Branislav Ivanovic, Ramires and Juan Mata have given this team extra flair and with the right boss in charge Chelsea can go far next term.

Compare their situation to Manchester United, who may struggle to even make the top three with new manager David Moyes embarking on the club’s first Sir Alex-less season in 26 years. Across the city Manuel Pellegrini is preparing for his first season in English football at the Etihad Stadium and few betting punters believe this unstable team are competent enough to mount a serious title challenge. Meanwhile both Arsenal and Tottenham are a long way off perfection and Liverpool are about to lose the only player – Luis Suarez – who could bring trophies back to Anfield. CHIVU CHASED

Inter Milan defender Cristian Chivu only recently signed a new contract extension with the club to extend his stay at the San Siro, but it appears that his spell at the club may be cut short as a result of interest from Turkey. The Romanian defender has been subjected to interest from the likes of Galatasaray, while Inter Milan also appear to be willing to sell the player in order to reduce the wage bill. The Italian giants have missed out on the European football for the upcoming season, which will cost a huge dent in their revenues.

In order to compensate for this low revenue, they are planning to trim their wage bill by selling some of the higher earning and older stars. Chivu has been one of the consistent defenders in the Italian league since arriving from Roma a few years ago. The player’s agent, though, has rejected such speculation by saying that his client is not looking for a move away from the San Siro. Inter Milan are also looking at bringing in some of the potential stars before the end of the transfer window. They have been linked with São Paulo player Wellington, but São Paulo vice president has said that they will not sell the player.

“They are only rumours. The only time I heard proposals from Turkey it has been last season. Chivu wants to respect until the end his deal with Inter and ending his career with Nerazzurri,” said Chivu’s agent. “Inter Milan have not made any official offer and even if they do, we won’t accept. We don’t have any intention of letting Wellington go, he is a very promising player and we all like him a lot at Sao Paulo. He has gained recognition, he is always paid when it’s due and we are calm regarding Wellington,” said São Paulo vice president.

RUMOURS DENIED

Inter Milan president Massimo Moratti has done away with the rumours that manager Andrea Stramaccioni could be replaced at the end of the season by confirming that the former youth team manager will remain at the helm next season as well. A run of poor results since January has left Inter Milan fighting to finish even in the Europa league places. Hence, there has been wide spread speculation that Stramaccioni could lose his job before the end of the season. Massimo Moratti, though, has today confirmed that Stramaccioni will remain as the Inter Milan manager next season.

Inter had been linked with several managers like José Mourinho and Roberto Mancini in the last few months. Since winning the Champions League title in 2010, the team has been on a downward spiral. The club has been trying to rebuild and it has been a period of transition. They are looking on course to be without the Champions League football next season as well. However, Moratti has confirmed that Stramaccioni is going to remain as the manager next season. The president, though, has backed previous managers like Roberto Mancini only to end up sacking them. However, he has said that they were done in a different situation and it will not be repeated with Stramaccioni.

“The project will start again with Stramaccioni. You always ask me whether he’ll stay and I always tell you yes. It is not easy to plan for the future if your computer has a virus, when you have had as many players injured as we have, but we are thinking about next season and doing that well. Zaccheroni and Mancini were different situations. Roberto decided to leave and then what happened then happened. We needed to look for a new coach even if Mancini had done really well and we therefore went to Jose Mourinho,” said Moratti.

INTER EDGED OUT

Inter Milan almost have no possibility of getting back into the Europa league after suffering a 3-0 defeat against Tottenham in the first leg according to the defender Cristian Chivu. Inter Milan were paired alongside the English club Tottenham in the last 16 stage of the competition.

Tottenham have been one of the inform team’s over the last few weeks, and they demonstrated their superior advantage by managing a 3-0 win. This victory almost puts them in the quarter-finals of the competition, while almost eliminating the Italian club. Even though the Inter Milan manager Andrea Stramaccioni has spoken with confidence that they can turn around the deficit, Chivu reckons that it is almost an impossible task. SNEIJDER MOVES ON

The Italian club Inter Milan recently sold the star midfielder Wesley Sneijder after the Dutchman failed to agree new terms with the club. The 28-year-old was an instrumental part of the 2010 success for the club, but he has not been given the great departure everyone would have been hoping. Sneijder has now completed a move to the Turkish club Galatasaray. He was on a contract worth around € 6 million per season, and it is understood that Inter Milan wanted him to agree a contract for around € 4 million per season. Due to his refusal to sign this new contract, the club decided to remove him from first-team action immediately.

Left with no other option, it is thought that Inter Milan accepted a fee of around £ 8 million for the midfielder. The defender Cristian Chivu has said that he will not criticise the midfielder for not accepting a lower pay scale. Yet, the Romanian has said that it is undoubtedly a sensitive issue. He has said that it is extremely hard for some players to switch from a contract earning a higher amount of money to one that offers them a lower level of pay. The Inter Milan manager Andrea Stramaccioni, meanwhile, praised the former midfielder for his contribution to the team.

“It is a sensitive issue. Some players were offered a contract on a certain amount of money and so it is hard for them to switch to a contract running for the same period but with the amount reduced. I don’t judge people in this situation. People react differently to these situations,” said Cristian Chivu. “I thank Sneijder for what he gave me on the pitch. I hope the rest of his career goes very well for him,” said the Inter Milan manager Andrea Stramaccioni.

INTER SET FOR TOUGH TEST

Inter Milan are set for a tough test this weekend in the form of the match against Roma.              The club are currently fourth in the Italian Serie A table, but they have fallen behind the leaders Juventus and Napoli in recent weeks. The team has managed just two victories in the last five matches, which has been the reason for their slight dip in the table. They will be coming up against a Roma team, who have also been on a poor run of form recently after three defeats in the last four matches, during the weekend. The Inter Milan defender Cristian Chivu feels that his teammates are ready for the encounter.

Inter Milan have a six-point advantage over Roma and Chivu is extremely confident that the team can get three points from this encounter. He has spoken about the tactics adopted by Roma under their new manager Zdenek Zeman. Chivu has said that Inter Milan need to be aware of the spaces left by the attackers, which are exploited well by Roma. Psychologically, Inter Milan will have a disadvantage in the match after they have suffered at the hands of Roma earlier in the season. They were beaten 3-1 by Roma in the reverse fixture.

“We are going to Rome to win this game because it is essential that we bag the full three points. They are a team in good shape, but we want to climb as high as possible. Roma are not easy to beat. They attack the spaces and get in behind you. They have players who always seem to find the right pass at the right time,” said Cristian Chivu, who recently extended his contract with the Italian club. His future was under a cloud of doubt only recently, but he has been able to agree to a new contract.

Will Chivu ever play in the Premier League?

What if Cristian Chivu played for Liverpool in the Barclays Premier League when the English team tried to sign him in 2011? What would be the odds of signing the Romanian star? These questions sprung up as some Italian Serie A stars are rumoured to be bound for the EPL.

Among them is his Internazionale teammate Wesley Sneijder. Chivu will be a big catch for any club in Europe. However, getting his services will be difficult. Chivu is a person known for his loyalty to his mother club. He once stated that he wants to retire as an Interista. Inter Milan rewarded his loyalty by offering him three more years on his contract. Although three years is not that long in football nowadays. If Liverpool or any other European clubs are still interested in signing him, they would have to wait until 2015 before his contract ends. CHIVU IN TALKS

The Romanian national team manager Victor Piturca has revealed that his hoping to persuade the Inter Milan defender Cristian Chivu to come out of retirement. The 32-year-old defender is regarded as one of the best players for Romania in recent times, but he recently took the opportunity to quit the national team after having made 75 appearances. He said that injuries and age have made him take this difficult decision. He announced his retirement only me, but the manager Victor Piturca has revealed that he has not given up hope of seeing the 32-year-old play for the national team once again.

Victor Piturca has revealed that he will be making the trip to Milan in order to have a personal chat with him in the hope of persuading him to return to international football. It remains to be seen if Chivu will be able to return to club football, as he is currently struggling with a foot injury that has kept him out of action since August. He has not been part of the first team since playing in the 3-0 win over Hajduk Split. Romania are currently struggling in the World Cup qualifying group and are currently in the third position with just nine points from four matches played.

“I have spoken to him on the phone recently and I will go to Milan to meet him before Christmas or at the beginning of 2013. The most important thing for him is to start playing again,” said Piturca in a recent press conference. Romania recently has success in the friendly match against Belgium after they managed to win the match 2-1. From here on, Romania will be playing in World Cup qualifying matches against Hungary and Netherlands in the month of March. This will go a long way into determining the success of qualification.

INTER NET 3 POINTS

Inter Milan has defeated Catania in a Serie A match played at Stadio Giuseppe Meazza on Sunday. Milan won the match by 2-0. This was the sixth victory for Inter Milan in the ongoing Serie A League. This victory hasn’t affected the position of Milan in the Serie A points table. Milan is still at no. 4 with 18 points in 8 matches. On the other hand, Catania has slipped down to no. 7 in the points table with 11 points in 8 matches.

This was the fourth consecutive victory for Inter Milan in the competition. The manager of Inter Milan, Andrea Stramaccioni, seemed to be delighted with the performance of his team in the match. Stramaccioni said, “It was another wonderful performance by the boys. We had been performing brilliantly since the last few weeks and it was important to continue the winning streak.”

“There were a couple of missed opportunities in the first half, but, apart from that, it was a clinical performance. The body language of the players was terrific. When you win quite a few matches consecutively, you tend to get a bit complacent at times. But, the boys maintained the same kind of intensity that they had shown in the previous matches.”

“Everyone in the team is playing his part beautifully. If we keep playing like this, it will be very hard for any other team to beat us.”

When asked about Cassano who scored his fifth goal in the ongoing season, Stramaccioni said, “He has proved to be a great buy for us. We had massive hopes from him and he has been delivering so far. Hopefully, he would be able to maintain his form in the further matches as well.”

Inter Milan’s next match will be a Europa League encounter against Partizan Belgrade on Tuesday at the same venue.

CHIVU RULED OUT

Inter Milan could be without the star defender Cristian Chivu for up to a month now after it was revealed that the defender has not made sufficient progress in his attempts to rehabilitate from his injury problems. The Romanian defender has been suffering from a toe problem for the last couple of weeks. He recently extended his contract at the San Siro after many rumours linking him with a move abroad came up during the summer. He was a free agent this summer, which prompted speculation linking him with the likes of Real Madrid and Ajax.

However, he has decided to extend his stay at the San Siro by renewing his contract. It is expected that he will be back to the first-team action only by the eighth week of Italian Serie A action. Inter Milan will be up against Catania at home during this weekend. The arrival of Cristian Chivu back into the first team will be a significant boost for the club because they have altered a significant portion of the first team following a disappointing season. Cristian Chivu will be one of the players to provide experience to the new arrivals at the club.

Despite not playing in the Champions League, Inter Milan have spent a lot of money on high profile players in the summer. They are expected to once again propel the club back to the title challenge. It has been two seasons since Inter Milan last won the Italian Serie A title. Inter Milan have made a decent start to the new season, although they have been recently defeated by Roma. It was the first defeat of the season, but aside from that, they have won the other two matches of the campaign. Juventus and Napoli are expected to be the major challenges for the title this time around.
